On November 1st, 2019, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) officially opens its Representative Office in New York City, located at Suite 14P, One Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown Manhattan. The Representative Office was licensed by the New York State Department of Financial Services on June 17th, 2019 and received official approval from the Federal Reserve Board earlier on October 26th, 2018.

Visa recently honored Vietcombank as the winner of the Champion Security Award for pioneering in managing and combating fraud risks in card payment. On 20 June 2019, Visa held its Champion Security Awards in recognition of eight banks and financial institutions in the Asia-Pacific Region. The ceremony is part of the 15th Asia Pacific Visa Security Summit held in Shanghai, China. The Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) is the first ever nominee from Vietnam to receive such an honor.

Vietcombank's Representative Office in New York is expected to officially come into operation from the third quarter of 2019, becoming an extended arm of Vietcombank in the North America, adding to Vietcombank's existing network of over 500 domestic Branches/ Transaction Offices/ Representative Offices/ Subsidiaries; and overseas operational network including Vietnam Finance Company in Hong Kong, Representative Office in Singapore, VCB Money Inc. in the U.S. and Vietcombank Laos.
